Michael Hurlston is the Senior Vice President and General Manager for Broadcom’s Home and Wireless Networking line of business at Broadcom Corporation. He has over 13 years of experience in the wireless industry spanning MMDS, 802.16, 802.11, and Bluetooth technologies. He joined Broadcom in 2001 and helped take it from its start in WLAN to its current position as the market leader. In the process, he led Broadcom to a number of industry firsts including 802.11g, 500 million units shipped, 802.11n and Wi-Fi+BT combination chips. Prior to joining Broadcom, Mr. Hurlston was Vice President of marketing at Oren Semiconductor where he was involved in technical innovations in both the broadcast digital television and wide area wireless markets. He also served as director of marketing at IC WORKS, where he developed spread spectrum clocking technology and co-authored several papers on the subject.
He holds an MBA and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering both from the University of California, Davis.
Rahul Patel is Vice President for Broadcom’s Mobile and Wireless Group. His responsibilities include managing the product roadmap and market strategy, applications engineering, marketing and business development organizations to expand Broadcom’s Wi-Fi leadership in the consumer and enterprise markets. Mr. Patel has served in a variety of product management and marketing positions at Broadcom. Prior to his current role, Mr. Patel managed Broadcom’s portfolio of secured switch processors. He has also held various technical, marketing and engineering positions at Hi-Fn, Samsung and SMOS Systems.
Mr. Patel holds a BS in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in India, a Masters in Computer Science from Arizona State University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.
Vijay Nagarajan works as a Associate Director, Product Marketing for Broadcom Corporation’s Wireless Connectivity Combo Group. He manages wireless connectivity client software products for Broadcom. Further, he leads the Broadcom initiative to evangelize 5G WiFi and is responsible for the 5G WiFi blog. As the Vice-Chair of the Wi-Fi Alliance Marketing Task Group for 802.11ac, he is also intimately involved with the industry activity around this next generation of Wi-Fi. Prior to his role at Broadcom, he worked on various wireless technologies including CDMA-based 3G networks, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Mr.Nagarajan used to write a well-cited Wireless Industry Analyst blog. His opinions and analysis of the mobile phone market and value chain have been referenced in several online publications including Forbes, EE Times and thestreet.com.
Mr. Nagarajan has over 30 published patent applications on mobile receiver architecture and design techniques for 3G and 4G networks. Mr. Nagarajan also has multiple peer-reviewed international technical papers, including IEEE publications, in coding techniques for wireless and storage systems.
Mr. Nagarajan holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a BS degree from the College of Engineering, Guindy, (Anna University) India.
Gabriel Desjardins is a Product Manager with Broadcom Corporation’s Mobile and Wireless Group. He is responsible for Wi-Fi solutions that go into high-end smartphones. He began his career as a radio IC designer at two successful start-ups and developed CMOS products for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, GSM and wireless audio. Prior to joining Broadcom, he worked as a statistical and financial analyst for a number of professional sports teams. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and the (Toronto) Globe and Mail. Mr. Desjardins has an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
